Cymbidiums are some of the hardiest orchids that one can own, taking an almost full, direct light from the sun with a bit of shade. They love growing out with temperatures from 70-85F and taking 50-60F at night in order to flower out. They are also known to take temperatures down to first frost here in New York and hobbyists love to leave them outside for most of the year as they can take temperatures down to 40F without a problem. They love having constant moisture in the summer with the addition of good nitrogen and phosphorous fertilizer every two weeks. In the winter watering and fertilizing needs to be cut back with a dry period in between watering.
